LA VERNE- The University of La Verne women's soccer team scored a 2-1 comeback victory against Occidental College in overtime Wednesday night.
The Leopards fell behind early, conceding a Tiger goal in the 13th minute. But senior forward Marisella Macias leveled the score at 1-1 with an unassisted score in the 37th minute.
Both offenses were shut out in the second half to force extra time, but it took Leopard junior striker Natalie Vasquez just over a minute to end the contest, finding the back of the net off a free kick from the top of the box for the game-winner.
Senior defender Brianna Romero attempted a team-high four shots, while junior goalie Delanie Pacheco made four saves. The Leopards were outshot by a 19-9 margin and both teams were awarded four corner kicks.
La Verne will take the field Saturday for a conference tilt with Cal Lutheran University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Ortmayer Stadium.
