After a thrilling homecoming win last week over Chapman, the University of La Verne football squad will face a strong challenge this Saturday as it hits the road to take on the University of Redlands in SCIAC action.
Redlands (5-1, 3-1 SCIAC) is currently ranked #16 in the latest D3football.com Top 25 Poll, defeating Occidental 42-40 last week in Eagle Rock. The only blemish thus far for Redlands was a 28-24 defeat to #10 Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks back on October 1.
In the Bulldogs, La Verne (2-4, 1-2 SCIAC) will be playing its third nationally-ranked opponent in Division III on this year's schedule, which does not include NAIA powerhouse Azusa Pacific, whom the Leopards met in its season opener back on September 10.
"It's been challenge for our team this year given our very competitive schedule," said head coach Chris Krich. "I do believe that its made us a little more battle-tested and something we're better prepared for."
Saturday's game also marks the homecoming for the Bulldogs, who are 2-0 this season at Ted Runner Stadium. "I'm sure Redlands will ready to play and they'll have a tremendous crowd," said Krich. "It will be a tough environment but it should make for a great football atmosphere come Saturday afternoon."
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
