Richard Worsell has joined the University of La Verne football staff, serving as the Leopards' offensive coordinator heading into the 2011 season.

Prior to his arrival, Worsell spent the previous two seasons as offensive coordinator at Illinois College.  During his first season, the Blueboy squad set 14 school records and five Midwest Conference records.

He previously spent three seasons as the pass game coordinator at Millikin University. During the three years he produced three different All-Conference receivers. His passing attack broke school records for pass completions in a season (twice), single game passing yards, single game receiving yards and single season receptions.  In addition the school produced the #2, #4 and #5 single-season passing efforts in school history.

"We are very excited to bring Coach Worsell aboard to our staff," said first-year Leopard head coach Chris Krich.  "He brings a tremendous amount of coaching experience and possesses a wealth of knowledge on offense.  We are indeed fortunate to add him to our program." 

Prior to coaching at Millikin, Worsell spent two years at Lakeland College in Wisconsin. During this time Lakeland won a share of the IBFC Championship and was ranked #8 nationally in scoring offense (2003) scoring 40.1 points per game. In 2004, Lakeland had the nation’s fifth-best rushing attack.  Both seasons saw the Lakeland offense lead its conference in yards from scrimmage and scoring.

Born and raised in England, Worsell is a 2003 graduate of Aberystwyth University during which time he served as the head coach for three years, in addition to serving as the Great Britain Bulldogs offensive line coach. In 2003 he was the head coach and offensive coordinator for the Sussex Thunder, producing the #2 passing game in the UK (yards / game) and the nation’s leading receiver. At Aberystwyth he coordinated the #1 rushing attack in the nation and broke the school record for points scored in a season. In 2002 Worsell served as an assistant coach at the London O's during their 13-0 National Title season.

Worsell holds a Master of Business Administration from Lakeland College.
