Five members of the University of La Verne football squad were among a group of 39 student-athletes who were honored earlier this week as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Team.
The quintet consists of juniors Kyle Appleford, Masen Fox, Kenneth Piguee, Josh Ross and Wilson Truong.
Appleford, who earned All-SCIAC honors as an offensive lineman this fall, is a Liberal Studies major. Both Fox (Organizational Management) and Piguee (Political Science) both played as defensive backs during the 2010 season.
Ross, who earned time at the quarterback position, is a Movement and Sports Science major as is Truong, who was a starting linebacker with the Leos.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average at his current institution, must have completed one full calendar year at his current institution, must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility, and must have started in at least one game during the current football season.
